What is your story?
I am a born and raised VALLEY GIRL! Abbotsford is my hometown and I lived there for most of my life. I was actually studying criminology when, after 2 years, decided it wasn’t for me. I then fell into the world of broadcasting! While finishing up my diploma, I became a contestant on the Much Music VJ Search. After returning home I landed a job as a TV host for Shaw TV. After doing that for a few years and cheerleading for the BC Lions for another 5, I started focusing more on the social media aspect of things. Throughout all these fun opportunities I gained more and more followers which led me to become a social media influencer. I knew I wanted to do something with social media as my future career but I just didn’t know what!... ENTER TRULY
What inspired you to start Truly?
I was sitting with my manager at my full-time job earlier this year, and she asked me what my 5 year goal was. I said I wanted to run my own business but I just didn’t know what… And then, magically, that day, it hit me. I’ve always been so passionate about self care. I promote other companies and products on my own personal instagram. Why not start my own and promote my OWN products?! I started that very day in April 2019.
What does a typical day look like?
A typical day for me right now looks like working at my full time job as a Social Media Specialist for Prospera Credit Union, and then working for Truly from 5pm until I can’t keep my eyes open haha. It’s been incredibly rewarding seeing Truly come to life and I love every single minute I spend working hard at it!
What’s next for Truly Lifestyle?
A LOT of product releases! I am just entering into the world of wholesaling. It’s very exciting to see Truly beside some of my favourite local brands in many local shops. I eventually want to get into beauty supplements like biotin and folic acid as well!
What was one of your most rewarding experiences as a founder so far?
I think every time I get a message or before and after photos of people my products have helped, that’s the most rewarding. I love helping people feel happy and confident with themselves and it brings me so much joy when Truly can help them feel that way!
Best piece of advice to others that are wanting to start their own business?
Just DO IT! Go for your dreams. Set goals. Don’t make excuses. You can do it. You just need to put in the work! YOU GOT THIS.
